No Rest For The Wicked Game Engine

No Rest for the Wicked: A New Engine and Gameplay

Built on a Custom Engine, Not Unity

Unlike previous Ori games, No Rest for the Wicked was created using an in-house game engine. Moon Studios, the developer of the game, also built a new simulation engine based on Exit Games Quantum Engine to handle game logic, including a fully destructible environment.

Moon Studios has previously used Unity for its games, but decided to switch to a custom engine for No Rest for the Wicked. The studio says that this gave them more control over the game's development and allowed them to create a more immersive and visually stunning experience.

New Gameplay Features

In addition to a new engine, No Rest for the Wicked will also feature a number of new gameplay features, including:
  • A fully destructible environment
  • New combat abilities
  • A new skill tree system
  • A new story and setting
  • Moon Studios is confident that No Rest for the Wicked will be a worthy successor to the Ori games. The game is set to release in 2023.
